Influence of file active mass composition and discharging conditions on the electrochemical performance of the negative electrodes of nickel-cadmium storage batteriecadmium storage batteries
The paper studies the process of oxygen reduction on monolithic LaNi; and LaNi4.75Al0.25-based face electrodes in a 8 M KOH solution and on pressed metal-hydride electrodes based on the same intermetallides in the framework of hermetically-sealed nickel-metal-hydride battery mock-ups. The possibility of oxygen ionization with high rates on the working metal-hydride electrodes is shown. The high efficiency of this process is attributed to the formation of gas hydrogen-filled pores in the course of charging, which favours oxygen transfer to the pores of the electrode's active mass.
