Lithium redistribution in nickel-cadmium hermetically-sealed batteries with combined-design electrodes during their cycling
The paper shows that long-duration cycling leads to electrolyte redistribution over the electrode block of a hermetically-sealed nickel- cadmium battery with a gas-adsorption auxiliary carbon electrode. The working electrodes are noticeably depleted of the lithium being part of the electrolyte. At the same time, it is concentrated in the bulk of the auxiliary electrode and in the separating material.
