Influence of carbon dioxide on the performance of natural graphite electrodes for lithium-ionic power sources
The influence of carbon dioxide on the electrochemical behaviour of negative electrodes made of natural graphite was studied. Argon replacement by СO2 in the assembly box was found to reduce the irreversible capacity of negative electrodes by 5-12 times and to enhance the reversible one by 20% on the average. The Coulombic cycling efficiency of the first cycle of graphite electrodes in a 1 M LiP6, solution in a propylene carbonate – diethyl carbonate (1:4) mixture increases by 2-2.5 times, up to 60-75%.
